In the past, environmentally hazardous substances were handled differently than today. Industrial activities, and in particular fertiliser production, have therefore left their mark on the former premises of Chemie Uetikon AG and in Lake Zurich. Production processes generated various waste materials, some of which are present today as deposits on the lake bed. The deposits on the lake bed were assessed as requiring remediation in accordance with the Contaminated Sites Ordinance. The Office for Waste, Water, Energy and Air (AWEL) has therefore launched the project ‘Remediation of Contaminated Sites in Lake Zurich alongside Uetikon’ with the aim of eliminating the hazard to protected surface waters.

Together with the client, TBF prepared the tender documents for the sole contractor mandate for the remediation of the contaminated site, assisted in the two-stage submission process and prepared the environmental notice for the project.
