Sewage sludge utilisation plant Rostock
Rostock, Germany
With the sewage sludge utilisation plant at the Rostock-Bramow location, the client Klärschlamm-Kooperation Mecklenburg-Vorpommern GmbH (www.klaerschlamm-mv.de) is securing disposal at a municipal level of more than two-thirds of the total sludge produced in the federal state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The utilisation capacity of the plant is approx. 100,000 t/year of dewatered sewage sludge. The excess heat generated in the thermal sewage sludge utilisation process is extracted and fed as green heat into the Rostock district heating grid and the grid of the neighbouring sewage treatment plant. In addition, the electrical energy requirements of the plant will be covered by the generation of its own electricity.
The plant will meet all immission control requirements and will already be compliant with any future tightening of statutory environmental regulations. The utilisation plant will also create the necessary conditions for phosphorus recycling.
TBF has been tasked by the client with general planning across all work phases, from basic evaluation to awarding the contract for a management contractor and subsequent support during supplier engineering and the construction and commissioning phases.
