Waste recycling plant Linth
Niederurnen, Switzerland
The Linth waste recycling plant at its Niederurnen site in the canton of Glarus recycles waste from a total of 28 municipalities in the cantons of Glarus, Schwyz and St. Gallen. The waste recycling plant has been in operation since 1973 and has since undergone continuous development. The current plant contains two lines and has a maximum recycling capacity of 115,000 tonnes per year. Certain plant components, in particular boiler line 2, have been in operation for over 30 years and will have to be replaced by around 2025.
The new plant is designed to meet the increasing demand for energy efficiency and greater availability while maintaining low emissions.
Plant renovation will be performed entirely within the area of the existing buildings during ongoing, but reduced, operation.
