The association that manages the Bassersdorf wastewater treatment plant, which includes the municipalities of Bassersdorf, Lindau and Nürensdorf, has set the course for the transition to renewable energy. A photovoltaic system with an output of over 300 kWp was installed above the clarifying tank of the wastewater treatment plant. The wastewater continues to be treated below the solar panels. The solar panels can be automatically retracted and parked in their own ‘garage’ at night, during bad weather or for maintenance work.
The electricity produced by the plant is mainly used to operate the wastewater treatment plant, and only a small part is fed into the public grid.

TBF was responsible for general coordination, the photovoltaic system and its structural connection to the existing infrastructure.
