New construction Brig, Luins, Ulrichen substations
Cantons of Valais and Vaud, Switzerland
The Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) and the Matterhorn Gotthard Railway (MGB) operate comprehensive and, by global standards, very reliable railway networks in Switzerland. With the new construction of the substations in Brig, Luins (SBB) and Ulrichen (MGB), the power capacities as well as the supply reliability of the traction current supply (16.7 Hz) were increased at important junctions in order to take into account the growing traffic volume in Switzerland.
TBF took over the project management of the extensive and complex tendering procedure for the two companies SBB and MGB in a joint procurement procedure for the evaluation of a total contractor. Furthermore, TBF supported the overall project management of SBB during the project planning and realisation by the total contractor in the areas of construction, geotechnics and surveying. This also included, among other things, the inspection of the project plans and the construction site for the purpose of quality assurance.
The three substations were successfully put into operation by 2018.
