Rehhag district heating plant
Bern, Switzerland
An additional district heating plant with a peak output of 15 MWth commissioned by Energie Wasser Bern (ewb) is being built in the west of Bern. TBF is responsible for the overall project management as well as technical planning in the areas of plant engineering, ICE systems and construction.
According to the city of Bern’s energy structure plan, at least 70% of the planned heat generation must come from renewable sources. In order to ensure compliance with the requirement, the district heating is generated by two wood-fired boilers and thus primarily on the basis of a fossil fuel. To cover the necessary redundancies and district heating spikes, a gas-fired hot water boiler and heat accumulators are used. The district heating plant is planned as an autonomous production facility and will be operated as such in the first phase. With the planned expansion of the district heating network, it will be integrated into ewb’s overall district heating network in the years to come.
