New construction Glattalbahn
Zurich, Switzerland
A local metre-gauge railway was constructed to connect the central Glatt valley to the existing tram network of the city of Zurich. In addition to the 13 km line length/600 V direct current railway, a new tunnel was constructed in the inner city area. This project included work in the following technical areas: permanent way, power supply, overhead contact line, communication systems, railway crossings including traffic lights and barriers, train stop infrastructure, railway safety systems in tunnels, tunnel safety installations, rescue and operational communication in tunnels, dynamic passenger information, ground gates for access to underground rectifier equipment, and low-voltage and earthing systems.
TBF provided client support for the project and was responsible for full external project management encompassing railway engineering, track alignment, sole contractor submissions for railway construction and railway engineering, permanent way management, local management of railway construction and railway engineering, as well as full technical and scheduling coordination for underground construction, civil engineering, road construction and railway engineering, and general scheduling.
