Second opinion on future study
Moossee-Urtenenbach, Switzerland
The wastewater treatment plant in Moossee-Urtenenbach needs to carry out measures to eliminate micropollutants by 2025. An external engineering firm has carried out a survey recommending a connection to the Burgdorf wastewater treatment plant for economic reasons. The municipality's association for the wastewater treatment plant has, however, questioned whether other areas such as water pollution control, operational safety and social issues have been given sufficient attention besides the question of cost.
To provide a second opinion, TBF carried out a detailed examination of the study, with almost 30 recommendations for further checks. A second phase saw greater clarification of the relevant outstanding issues, and a systems diagram was used to compare the development of this wastewater treatment plant with a connection to the plant in Burgdorf. This gave the wastewater association a solid basis on which to make a decision on the forthcoming project of the century.
