WWTP Thurau - project management
Uzwil, Switzerland
In the Wil-Uzwil region in the canton of St. Gallen, four sewage treatment plants are to be consolidated into one large plant. One larger wastewater treatment plant is more economical to run than four small ones, and the collective treatment of wastewater from Jonschwil, Uzwil, Wil and Zuzwil also leads to more than twice as much wastewater free of micropollutants being fed into the Thur river than a ‘solo effort’ by the Wil wastewater treatment plant. The new sewage treatment plant in Uzwil will be called ARA Thurau.
TBF is heading the entire project for the client side and has assumed overall project management. This involves not only coordinating the planners working on the technical projects (wastewater treatment plant and intake system), but also completing a number of other subprojects. These include working out a financing concept including cost sharing, setting up a new agreement between the municipalities and developing the organisation to build and later run the plant.
