Disentanglement Basel-Muttenz
Muttenz, Siwtzerland
The ‘Disentanglement Basel-Muttenz’ rail project is a bypass for the heavily used main line from Basel SBB station, a project to the tune of CHF 300 million that will be implemented from March 2020 through to the end of 2025. The project is an important prerequisite for the Basel-Liestal S-Bahn train service, which runs every 15 minutes. The main tracks are equipped with SBB type R contact lines, the sidings with SBB type N. The project perimeter encompasses the Muttenz substation and various feeder lines starting there. The 15 kV feeder lines are run as high-voltage cables and overhead lines, on overhead contact line support structures, individual pylons as well as high-voltage pylons together with 132 kV transmission lines. For the construction of the actual Donnerbaumbrücke bypass structure, a protective tunnel will be built over the main tracks. The protective tunnel is intended to decouple the Donnerbaumbrücke construction work from rail operations on the main line 500 Basel-Olten.
A new pedestrian subway will be built at Muttenz station.
