Support of the Civil Engineering Office Canton Zurich in the coordination of traffic and noise assessments

In connection with renovation and road construction projects in the municipalities, noise assessments are commissioned by the Noise Abatement Unit (FALS) and, since 2021, traffic assessments have been commissioned by Planning and Taxes (P+S) (until the end of 2020, responsibility for traffic assessments lay with the FVO). Subsequently, an overall decision is made based on a weighing of interests.
Since the turn of the year 2020/2021, TBF has been involved in the transfer of responsibilities from the AFV to the TBA and has ensured that the processes continue smoothly. In cooperation with the TBA, procedures and internal processes are being defined and developed. At the same time, TBF is involved in the technical development of detailed traffic reports.
A significant simplification of the processes results from the jointly developed rough assessment of noise and traffic. This makes the process up to the weighing of interests much more cost-effective. TBF supports the technical development of these rough traffic assessments and carries out test runs and evaluations to optimise the process.
