To comply with the Disability Equality Act, all railroad stations in Switzerland are being upgraded to make them accessible to the disabled. As part of the program ‘Umsetzung Bahnzugang 2023’ (Implementation Rail Access 2023) (BZU23), Stäfa station was checked for the need for action regarding safety, accessibility, and capacity.

As the station does not meet the corresponding requirements, structural measures are necessary at all access points of the passenger underpasses. Due to the spatial requirements and considering general substance maintenance, work will also be planned in the area of the track, overhead contact line and platform systems. In addition, the work must be coordinated with the municipality's project (new bus station).
