Redesign and redevelopment of Schulhausplatz
Baden, Switzerland
Schulhausplatz square in Baden has the fifth highest traffic load of all transportation hubs in Switzerland. The average daily traffic load is about 45,000 vehicles. The project included the complete renovation of Schulhausplatz square, extensive works management and road construction work, a completely new design and new traffic management. A low-speed level for bicycles and pedestrians, including retail space, was created below the traffic level.
A 300 m long bus tunnel from Baden station towards Wettingen was built below the level for low-speed traffic. This also has a separate exit in the direction of Mellingerstrasse. The Schlossberg tunnel was also renovated while traffic continued to flow.
All work was performed with no interruption to traffic.
